The patent attorney´s office of RGTH Richter · Gerbaulet · Thielemann · Hofmann Patent Attorneys PartGmbB was founded more than 135 years ago and is thus one of the oldest patent law firms in Germany. We thus have extensive experience in the field of protecting intellectual property.
In 1873, the firm “Brand und Nawrocki” was founded in Berlin. A commemorative coin, which was minted in honor of attorney at law Nawrocki and according to which Mr. Nawrocki filed the five thousandth German patent, bears witness of this firm. In 1894, the intellectual property protection department of the firm was taken over by attorney at law Dr.jur. Constantin Schmidtlein who has been registered as one of the first patent attorneys in Germany when the patent attorney law of 1900 became effective.
After WWII the relocation of the firm to Hamburg took place. In Hamburg, patent attorney Ernst Splanemann initially led the firm on his own. When patent attorney Dipl.-Ing. Joachim Richter joined in 1963, today’s partnership was then founded. It was joined in 1973 by patent attorney Dipl.-Ing. Franz Werdermann, in 1987 by patent attorney Dipl.-Ing. Hannes Gerbaulet and in 2000 by patent attorney Dipl.-Geol. Matthias Richter. In 1990, a branch office was founded in Berlin, which is led by patent attorney J. Richter.
In the year 2000 a further branch office was founded in Munich at the location of the Patent Offices and of the Federal Patent Court in which patent attorney Dipl.-Phys. Dr. Andreas Hofmann, LL.M., and since 2007 patent attorney Dr. Christa Arend are working.
In Hamburg our team was enhanced by patent attorney Dipl.-Wirtsch.-Ing. Torge Thielemann, MBA in 2007, by patent attorney Dipl.-Ing. Carl Peters in 2012, by patent attorney Dipl.-Ing. Dr. Thorsten Last in 2013, and by patent attorney Dipl.-Phys. Karin Berger.
